Creating Balance in the Office with Feng
Shui
By Carol Cannon, BBEC, Certified Feng Shui Consultant
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art of placement that helps to
ensure that you have a balanced business environment. Feng Shui
allows you to see how your “Ch’I”, or life force
energy, is moving within the office. This relates to the location
and position of your desk, what is surrounding you on your walls,
and what you place on your desk.
Most people spend approximately one third of their daily life at
work. Everything that you bring into your office is symbolic. In
the world of Feng Shui, we analyze an environment based on nine
different areas, from Career to Wealth to Relationships, each with
specific meanings. If these are out of balance, they can affect
you personally. Thus, your office needs to be treated with respect.
Following is a list of the nine areas, known as the Bagua, and
each area’s specific meaning in your environment.
Helpful People: This area refers to the assistance you receive
in achieving your business goals. Travel falls into this area also.
Career: This area represents the strength or weakness of your career
or business.
Knowledge: This area is associated with information you
have to give to others, such as your clients and employees. It also
represents your ability to receive information.

of your interactions with employees or peers in business.
Wealth: This area is important as every business and employee
should be concerned about the bottom line. It reflects the flow
of income into your business life.
Fame: This area is an important business area. Perhaps not
every person desires fame, but most everyone hopes for a good reputation.
.
Partnership: This is the area that represents not only a
company’s partners, but also the clients that it does business
with.
Creativity: This area is based on bringing forth inner,
creative energy. It draws on your child within to bring new ideas
to the world.

good health, a business or employee cannot survive.
